Topographical Surveys

What is a Topographical Survey?

A Topographical Survey can be defined as recording the coordinates and elevation (height) data of natural and artificial features within a designated survey area. Using the latest technology, points are stored accurately on site and then plot on to a CAD drawing as 2D or 3D deliverables to produce an accurate and detailed map.

The points surveyed and recorded in three dimensions provide accurate spatial information for the site.  This allows for the drawing up of spot height maps, contour maps and complex terrain models which can then be used for scaling, design and measurement detail.

Examples for when a Topographical Survey may be of use include:

  • Planning development

  • Measuring land area

  • Planning for residential development

  • Boundary disputes

  • Road layout or highway design

  • Ground height/level difference

  • Distance measurement/scaling

  • Planning and design

  • As built information

  • Accurately plotting utilities
