Photogrammetry
What is Photogrammetry?

Photogrammetry is the art and science of extracting 3D information from photographs. The process involves taking overlapping photographs of an object, structure or space and converting them into 2D or 3D digital models.
This process is ideal for capturing objects that have a lot of detail to be recorded. Similarly to a 3D scan, the process is a lot quicker and more effective than picking up the detail with a total station. The data can be stored within a matter of minutes and the coordinated colour output can be viewed on a free downloadable software.
This makes it a perfect way of collecting as built information for excavations and trial holes as all information would be captured in the pictures limiting the chance of vital information being missed. This can then be referred to at a later date, if further questions arise and additional detail is needed eliminating the need for re excavating. The 3D imagery produced can be used to accurately measure distances, depths and coordinates which can then be relayed back on to site. The coordinated output can also be displayed within the 3D utility CAD model.
